A Health Resource:

Uplifting Health Literacy Month with MyHealthFinder

Shared 10/23/24

October is Health Literacy Month, which health.gov defines as, ” a time to recognize the importance of making health information easy to understand and the health care system easier to navigate” (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion). As we continue to spotlight different available resources related to health & wellness, MyHealthFinder, is one you may find helpful. They have a simple tool on the home page where you can enter your age and sex, and it populates a series of screenings you should have, and conversation topics you may want to address with your Primary Care Provider. It’s a helpful jumping off point to encourage people to be an active participant in their care, by offering age appropriate topics and health considerations. This website also offers a health topic exploration guide where you can learn more about different conditions in easy to understand terms, and more resources for doctor visits, and how to help a loved one navigate that condition. This website offers a lot of information to help you and your loved ones stay informed, and offers a springboard for conversation with your doctor.
