Staying Safe in the Storm … as Neighbors
a Message from Patty Jenks, Chief Community Advocate, CommunityCare of Lyme
Fire Chief Aaron Rich has posted a note about yet another weather event, coming just in time to create potential annoyances through the Holiday week. As if the heavy snow dump, accompanied by downed everything, wasn’t enough! This one may bring wind, rain, and slop–nothing we want to see during a holiday break. Click HERE to read his note.
Regardless, it’s a possibility, and learning from the past weekend, we should follow Aaron’s recommendations and be aware of our responsibility to ourselves and neighbors as we prepare for another few days of dealing…..
Challenges like these can ramp up anxiety and morph into panic mode in our minds. Monitoring conditions and preparing for the possibility of another bit of time staying off the roads will make a difference.
Here’s what we know:
- We are incredibly fortunate to have an amazing crew of emergency personnel to help guide us through whatever Mother Nature tosses at us. These folks make themselves available for days on end to assure our safety and welfare.
- We have a highly competent and responsive highway department who we may also depend on to do what they do well, as quickly as possible.
- There are neighbors helping neighbors – CCL is currently updating our Neighborhood Network capabilities. You may get a call or visit from someone in your area to check in and make sure you’re doing OK and help you get what you need. If you or a neighbor has any kind of special need that concerns you (if power and communication abilities are compromised), please let us know before the storm hits so that we may prioritize as needed.
The CCL help line is always available. Call 603-795-0603 to reach a warm voice or leave a message which will be responded to as quickly as possible.
Wishing you good health and a calm, manageable holiday week.
Happy Holidays to you all!
