Pack that picnic blanket, another dinner, and come back to the park in your favorite costume (if you like) for WRIF Night 2.  “WRIF Raff” Awards will be given for Best Dressed “19th C. Literary Character” and “’90s Retro”!

Set in the summer of 1994, a small band of conservative Christian drama kids gathers for one last Victorian dress-up party before heading off to college. At the center of the group is Gene, who wants to tell his best friends he’s gay, but finds that costumes, makeup and showtunes can be instruments of avoidance and denial among the young and repressed. Like a John Hughes movie reimagined for a queer audience, Jonathan Wysocki’s autobiographical teen comedy is a wonderfully enjoyable teen romp and a heartfelt love letter to all misfits, late bloomers and outsiders.  Presented with community partner Northern Stage Education9:30pm  Filmmaker & (newly added) CAST Q&A – immediately after the film

Director Jonathan Wysocki and cast Nico Greetham (Oscar), Nick Pugliese (Gene), Danielle Kay (Ali), and Megan Suri (Claire) will dial in live on the big screen with moderator Samantha Davidson Green (WRIF board member & local filmmaker) in conversation with the audience via live remote link.
