When the days get longer and the temperatures are warmer, the earth telling us spring is on its way. Join us to learn about sugaring season and how maple syrup is made: getting supplies and equipment ready, tapping the trees, and filling the jars with hot syrup. Find out how many animals react to the warming air during mud season and what happens to the ground that was under the snow. Paint your own picture of what animals do in the spring. Then walk, stomp and/or drive through the puddles of mud on a dirt road.

Supplies needed:

  • Washable Tempera or Poster Paint (Recipe for DIY paint is provided below for which you will need food coloring)
  • Cups for mixing paint (cottage cheese or yogurt containers, or paper or plastic cups)
  • Paper for painting a picture
  • Heavy piece of paper or card stock-weight paper or a cut-open cereal or similar flat box for walking, stomping or driving
  • Marker for drawing
  • Your fingers or corks for walking and stomping
