In this time of national unrest around race and privilege, interested 8-10 graders Are invited to join a secular book group focused on anti-racist lessons just for them.
Brought to you by The Racial Justice Team at the Thetford Hill Church in conjunction with the Lyme Congregational Church, under the direction of Kate Hesser, Melissa Thaxton and Robin Junker.
We have chosen the book This Book is Anti-Racist by Tiffany Jewell with illustrations by Aurelia Durand.
Over eight sessions, we will explore concepts of identity, the history of racism in the US, allyship, and ways to take action.
Our first meeting venue will be a socially distanced campfire on October 16th from 6:30 – 8:30 in Thetford.
Other sessions will be a mix between daytime outdoors sessions, evening campfires and remote Zoom gatherings.
The time spent promises to be fun, informative and empowering!
