MAURICE DURUFLE: REQUIEM
This Sunday, August 27, at 2:00 pm
Mary Keane Chapel, Enfield (at the Enfield Shaker Museum)
All are welcome to enjoy this special performance of Maurice Durufle’s Requiem next weekend by the Upper Valley Singers, led by director Hal Sheeler and organist Henry Danaher. Completed in 1947, Durufle’s poignant and contemplative Requiem is perhaps the most beloved of the composer’s works—challenging for performers and tremendously rewarding, both musically and emotionally.
The Mary Keane Chapel was built by the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette in 1930-31 to designs by Donat R. Baribault of Springfield, MA. The sanctuary features spectacular German stained glass, produced by the Zettler Studios, as well as a renowned Casavant organ that will be showcased in this performance. Admission is by donation ($15–20 suggested), which will help support the preservation of Mary Keane Chapel.
