Volunteers Needed to Finish Lyme Playground Projects
We had an awesome work day on a blisteringly hot July day, spreading 40 cubic yards of mulch. But we weren’t able to complete sealing all the wood play structures. This is your chance to pitch in and ensure the longevity of our children’s playground equipment and complete the task that our volunteers began in July (when many of you were away/out of town).
What’s on the To Do List?
- complete sealing the wooden play structure
- dig out buried fence panel / wood bridge piece that is half-submerged in stream bed (evaluate and re-purpose or throw out)
- bonus task! prep and paint large steel garden container
- bonus task! rejuvenation pruning of flowering quince & forsythia
We will supply all the tools necessary to complete the project.
Wear clothes that can get stained. The water-based stain does easily wash off skin with soap and water BUT it does not come out of clothes. The stain will be tacky for about an hour after application, and it’s super easy to brush up against it when working.
Attention Parents of Young Children. We are looking for adult and teen volunteers; The stain (although water/soap soluble) is probably not something you want your children touching/licking etc. Use your best judgement before you bring younger children, as it may be hard to explain to them why they can’t be on the larger structure. The smaller play structure and sand area is completed already and the swings are certainly available, as are the playing fields.
