Lyme Historians Annual Meeting
This year’s meeting features a documentary film on the topic of our current exhibit (Check it out on Saturday!), a Q&A with Alfred Balch and Put Blodgett, and, as usual, yummy refreshments!
Lyme Historians Museum Current Exhibit: Logging & Log Drives
You may know that logging was a major industry in the north woods of New England around 1900, but haven’t you wondered about the men and the tools they used? How did they cut down those giant trees and get the logs off to market?
Stop in to the Historians for a close-up look at some of those tools (thanks to several folks for lending them) and to learn about this important phase of Lyme’s history. Ever tried to use a cant dog? (Do you even know what that is?) Additionally, we’ve got an amazing collection of photos. Your admiration for these men and their brawn and bravery will inspire you.
