The Lyme Biodiversity Working Group (LBWG) will be heading out again this weekend in its ongoing campaign to eradicate Japanese knotweed from the “Big Rock Preserve.” The event is scheduled for this coming Saturday, July 24 beginning at 9:00 am and ending around noon.
The LBWG welcomes fully vaccinated volunteers. Interested workers should plan to meet at the Big Rock’s Market Street entrance at 9:00 am or show up later as suits your schedule. Please do not park on Market Street. Park at the church or some other appropriate nearby locale. If you arrive after 9:00 am, follow the path into the “Big Rock” and look for our work crew downstream.
Dress for working in the field; sturdy footwear and jeans. Join the fun and meet new people working on invasives removal, all of which is done by hand cutting. No herbicides are used. We will have some tools but feel free to bring your own.
