 – Independence Day Celebration –

In keeping with recent tradition, Lyme’s “July 4th” activities will be held on the closest Saturday, which this year is the seventh of July. Come join in the fun on the Common!

Festivities start at 3:00 on the Common, with the Lyme Town Band’s Bev Strout Memorial Concert, along with kids’ games and a bike-decorating station.

Were you disappointed that last year’s parade got cut short by the storm? We were, too! This year we’re aiming for an even bigger and better parade, including the Scouts and lots of Lyme kids on bikes, AND MORE — so get your old trucks and cars tuned up and get your Uncle Sam costume ready! Come to Market Street around 3:45, and we’ll start about 4:00, led by our parade marshals and Lyme’s RED fire truck.
(The Lyme Historians will have a few old- fashioned costumes ready to loan, also.)

Right after the parade: Bill Murphy and Jay Davis will run the ever-popular sing-along and patriotic speeches. Bill has copies of some good classics, from Abe to MLK, so call him at 795-2287 if you’d be willing to add to our celebration by reading one.

5:30 Dinner: This year, Chef Larry of the Lyme School is cooking up a storm of good food, from burgers and dogs to chicken, along with salads and watermelon! Get ready for a yummy supper at 5:30. Cost for meal is $8.00, $5 for kids 4-10 and free for kids under 4; tickets available through town clerk’s office.

If you’d like to contribute a pie or other yummy dessert, please bring it on! Live music provided by James Graham.

6:30-8:00 – We’ll cap off the evening with Dan Freihofer and band playing the old favorites, and – AGAIN THIS YEAR:

EVERYONE welcome— no experience necessary! Singles, couples, kids, everyone!

Last year, I know we were having a great time in the church hall when the call came in that the storm was serious and we needed to all get home. So, this year we’ll pick up where we left off, hopefully outdoors under the stars!

Finally, another part of the fun, honestly, is the community spirit enjoyed when we

cometogethertowork. Westillneedhelpersforset-up:tablesandchairs on Friday afternoon, decorating and table setting Saturday morning, and of course clean-up both Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Contact Jennifer Boylston ( or 603 203-6181 to add your name to our list, or just show up on the Common — Even an hour helps!
