 – Contradance with Pete’s Posse, caller David Eisenstadter –

Summer fun continues with Fourth Saturday dances at Huntington’s Pavilion, Pavilion Road, East Thetford (just before Cedar Circle Farm).
“Back in the day” – this was the place that was hopping on a Saturday night.
In the 1920’s and 1930’s there was little else for entertainment, but they had LIVE MUSIC at the Pavilion Dance Hall, and folks came out to socialize and dance.
the dances are simple and easy to learn, yet you can have a lifetime of fun developing your sense of rhythm, timing, and yes – physics.
You see, one person can turn around, but when two people really start swinging, you get physics on your side…
(“Contradancing – it’s like a roller coaster ride that we make for each other” is one dancer’s quote…).
Fiddler Pete Sutherland (a national musical treasure, all by hisself…) is joined by Oliver and Tristan.
They all play multiple instruments, and together, they can really cook.
Caller David E will first teach each dance, then call the figures while the music plays.
All dances are first taught, then called.
New dancers should come at 7:45 pm for a walk-through with the caller – the easier dances are at the start of the program
Beginners and singles always welcome
Please bring a clean change of shoes for the dance floor, a water bottle, and a potluck snack for the break.
Admission is $10, students $5.
