Chaffee Wildlife Sanctuary
Open House
The Chaffee Wildlife Sanctuary at Post Pond is one of the brightest stars in the firmament of Lyme’s many special nature preserves.
Over the last few years, Lyme’s Conservation Commission, in partnership with the Upper Valley Trails Alliance (UVTA), has facilitated several projects aimed at enhancing The Chaffee visitor’s experience including a wildlife viewing blind, an upgraded footbridge crossing over Trout Brook that connects The Chaffee to the town’s athletic fields and the installation of a thousand foot long all persons accessible trail.
Don’t know about The Chaffee? Been planning a visit but just couldn’t seem to work it into your schedule? That can change. Come to an Open House gathering at The Chaffee this coming Sunday, the 13th and enjoy its many charms.
The event begins at 1:30 pm. Members of Lyme’s Conservation Commission and the UVTA will be on hand to answer questions and show you around. Cider and donuts will be served.
There’s limited parking at The Chaffee’s Rt. 10 entrance, but there is ample space in the Chase Beach parking area which is a short walk across the footbridge into the preserve.
