A Social Summer

In case you’ve missed previous Wellness Wednesday posts on the importance of “social fitness” you can review them here:

Both having experienced this sentiment myself, and having it heard from friends across the Upper Valley I know the gray rainy weather followed by high heat and humidity has made enjoying the summer more challenging. I find myself less motivated to get out and do things. If you’ve reviewed our Wellness Wednesday posts on the health benefits of being social, I’m sure it’s no surprise that engaging with others is one way to counter any of the doldrums experienced alongside the weather.

The good news (forecast aside) is there are loads of ways to have a social summer! From summer concert series throughout the Upper Valley to our weekly Tea with Shelby series, opportunities abound for connection. Chances are if there’s something you’re interested in, there’s a program or event that will speak to you! To learn more about events going on, visit our COMMUNITY CALENDAR .

One prime example is the annual Lawn Party Luncheon taking place next Monday, July 17th, from 11am – 1pm at the Tecca’s home in Orford. This event takes place overlooking the Connecticut River, and is held outside under a tent. If you have any concerns about being inside with a group, or being rained on this event offers solutions to both! Another lovely thing about this event is that neighbors from towns nearby will join us, so you can re-connect with friends from both sides of the river. Furthermore, the Lawn Party Luncheon offers delicious foods made with love and generosity by neighbors. Let’s practice our “social fitness” together! If you’ll be able to join us in this social summer event, please let us knowIf you’d enjoy offering food contact us – and we would be glad to share needs. All are warmly welcome, so please invite your family and neighbors to join!

Every Wednesday, CommunityCare of Lyme lifts up a wellness topic, embracing the widest possible definition of individual and community well-being.
