Beat the Heat!

Updated June 2023

Cool wishes during the warm summer months!

Here are some reminders about coping with this heat.  Staying well hydrated and cool is important. Please check the list below, and contact us if there’s a way we can help with anything.

  • Drink lots of water. Do you have plenty on hand? Please keep a tall glass or bottle of water by your side. One trick is to freeze water bottles so they can stay cool throughout the day. For those who don’t have great well water and purchase your drinking water, but are reluctant to go to stores to stock up, we can help with this.
  • Keep your home cool. If you need help managing windows or shades, or if you’ve got an air conditioner but no way to install it, please call and we will find some muscle to get it done. Now is not the time to be overheated and uncomfortable. If you need a window or small room air conditioner, contact us.
  • Escape from the heat. The CCL living room is open Mondays through Thursdays 9am – 11am and by appointment. If you need a cool space to sit for warm conversation, please let us know or simply stop by during our Open Office Hours.
  • Please check in with neighbors. A friendly call or knock on a door (with a mask on if you are not vaccinated) can help distract from the heat and make sure someone’s safe. You can keep it simple, or here’s a more detailed checklist with questions you might ask. Always call 911 in case of emergency.

Call 603-795-0603, for a warm voice with cool ideas and a helping hand.

Don’t hesitate to check in and let us know how we can help, or if you’re able to lend a hand.
