CCL Weekly Update – 5/21/2021
The Gift of Gathering!
On Wednesday, we hosted our first in-person gathering since a very warm day in November allowed us to be outside together. What a glorious afternoon to celebrate May Flowers and Mothers! It was an opportunity to connect with friends, make new friends, and share experiences, food, and flowers. What more could one want? We had a wonderful turn out! Stories and songs were shared, poems and photos too, along with some wonderful anecdotes. Everyone had the chance to take home a bouquet arranged from the lovely array of beauties from our gardens and flowering trees. to leave with a shared memento from our time together. Read more and see photos here. Thank you to all who joined us, to Kathy Sherrieb for sharing her beautiful patio. We are so grateful! We missed those of you who had hoped to be with us, but were unable to attend.
We look forward to getting together in June, as we celebrate Farmers and Fathers!
With Love,

News and Notes:
Covid Vaccination Updates.
CDC and NH Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) say, in most settings, vaccinated individuals do not need to be masked. However, as NH still has a substantial level of Covid transmittal, DHHS recommends masking indoors if you do not know everyone’s vaccination status. Here’s the current recommendation document. Remember, not everyone has chosen to, and not everyone is able to receive the vaccination, and it can be inappropriate (out of respect for privacy) to ask about vaccination status. Please continue to carry your masks and respect households and establishments that require mask wearing.
Vaccinations can now be scheduled for everyone 12 years and older! Parental consent is required for those under 18, and valid proof of identification is required for everyone. For those who don’t have a driver’s license, a birth certificate or a passport is needed. Getting as many of us as possible vaccinated remains the single most important way to allow us to transition to a safe, new “normal”. If you haven’t yet, go to vaccines.nh.gov and register to be vaccinated. You may also call 211. The state’s fixed sites (like JC Penney in Lebanon) will be closed to first vaccination appointments at the end of May. At JC Penney, walk-ins are welcome 3-6pm daily, except for Memorial Day, through at least the end of May.
Margaret Caudill-Slosberg (“EOC Lyme” on the Listserv) continues to keep us informed as guidance and conditions evolve. Watch for her posts. Call 603-795-0603 or email help@cclyme.org if you have questions or need any help getting – or getting to – your vaccination appointment.
Please Don’t Squash the Turtles!
Catherine Greenleaf, director of St. Francis Wild Bird Hospital in Lyme sent this timely warning about female turtles, now crossing roads to get to land to lay eggs. She also shares instructions for helping, should you come across a turtle trying to make the dangerous journey. Find her full message on the listserv, or click here.
