CCL Weekly Update – 5/7/2021

Thank you, volunteers!

Despite the cold, damp weather, Lyme’s Day of Service & Green Up Day was remarkably well “attended”. Many joined in the effort to clean up the post-winter dregs on the roadsides and complete projects for people at their homes and at the school.

As they say, many hands make light work; and this is proven annually during this town-wide effort! Over 50 families signed up to participate, the Girl Scouts were leading projects at the Lyme School, and there was more kind, neighborly yard work inspired by the spirit of the day.

The Lyme Country Store provided coffee, and several people baked and provided muffins, Irish soda bread, cinnamon rolls and donuts, along with assorted fruits and juices – all available at the School for anyone throughout the morning.

The smiles and energy abounded. It was a positive start to a new month and season.

Sincere thanks to everyone who helped make these projects successful. To Blake Allison and the Conservation Commission who worked with the State of New Hampshire to conduct the Green-Up Day and those who did the cleaning up! To Sue Hanlon, Kathy McGowan, Lynn McRae and Shelby Wood who organized the Day of Service. To the bakers and volunteers who were able to share their time and talents fortifying volunteers and helping residents with projects.

Here we are. This is Lyme. As usual, we shared a great day in the neighborhood!

Hoping you are enjoying the results of the rains and the coming sunshine.  The grass is that vibrant green of a new season. The outdoors has never looked so welcoming!

Looking ahead, we wish all the mothers in our world a loving, peaceful and healthy weekend. This Mothers Day, we remember those who have nurtured and loved and cared … whether they birthed or not. We have felt the heart and soul of the mothering … even when sometimes the actions haven’t matched. Join us in celebrating May Flowers and Mothers at Our Hour by Zoom this coming Tuesday, and in person (!) outside at the Academy Building on Wednesday the 19th. Please see more information below.

Sending love, thanks, and blessings for your continued good health and happiness.

With Love,  Patty

News and Notes:

Covid vaccination and guidance updates

If you haven’t yet, go to vaccines.nh.gov and register to be vaccinated. You may also call 211. You will be sent a link and instructions to schedule your appointment. There are many site options. At the end of May, state sites will be phased out, and vaccinations will be moving to private locations (pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, etc.) We encourage you to get signed up and take advantage of the vaccination-specific locations, while they’re available.

Today, Governor Sununu announced the replacement of the state’s “Safer at Home 2.o” business operations guidance with the CDC’s Universal Best Practices, recommendations for all individuals, businesses, and organizations. The governor and his team strongly encourage vaccination as soon as possible, as well as the use of masks and safe distancing, with the virus spread still at dangerous levels.

Margaret Caudill-Slosberg (“EOC Lyme” on the Listserv) continues to keep us informed as guidance and conditions evolve. Watch for her posts. Call 603-795-0603 or email help@cclyme.org if you have questions or need any help getting – or getting to – your vaccination appointment.
