CCL Weekly Update – 12/3/2020
‘Tis the Season …
It’s the season we know and love and look forward to. Yet with these extraordinary times and extraordinary people we find ourselves trying to make the best of an unknown situation. Caring for ourselves and those we love becomes a much bigger deal … in many different ways.
Have you noticed the amazing holiday decorations people are doing? This bright and happy in the dark of doubt and worry is a message that we aren’t alone and we are cared for. People are sharing their good cheer in creative and loving ways. In this coming week, there are lots of different ways you might find joy, safely at home or safely distanced in the wintry outdoors.
The 6th Annual Tree Festival, such a loved holiday tradition, is Saturday on the Lyme Common, beginning with Santa’s visit at 3pm. Learn more and share other holiday traditions in just a few minutes (at 7pm Thursday) during the first Junket with Judy. The recording will be temporarily available after the live event.
There are Food Pantries and a NH Food Bank distribution, plus free and by donation meals across the Upper Valley. Plus fabulous restaurant specials and bake sales.
Check out the “Don’t Miss” highlights below and a bigger selection of events and activities in the Lyme Events Calendar.
It warms our hearts and brightens our souls to have all this loving activity around us … whether we choose to participate a lot, a little, or not at all.
Absorb that light. Absorb the warmth. Feel the kindness and care. Celebrate that we are together and muddling through this business with camaraderie and with the safety net of good neighbors, kind helpers, holiday sparkle, food pantries, and generous hearts. Just BE for a minute.
Enjoy the season and your life. And enjoy the coming week.
With Love, Patty

Don’t forget:
We are here. Every day.
Reach out when you or someone you care about needs a hand or a little something special this holiday season. Contact us at 603-795-0603 or help@CCLyme.org. We partner with organizations and generous volunteers to connect you with just the right resources and opportunities to get involved. We’re cooking up lots of Jingling – with a lot less Mingling – this season. Join us!
The Lyme Food Pantry will be open on Tuesday.
At 1pm, all are welcome to our “Farmers Market” display of Willing Hands produce. You can order a food package at 795-0603, or stop by. We will have special holiday offerings and safe distribution of food as the weather turns cold. Your ideas and requests are most welcome!
If you are a school family with concerns for your own or fellow families, we’d like to help.
This quick form allows you to consider and share your situation, needs you may have, and ways you may help others. Complete it if you like, or just reach out by email or phone. If you could use help getting through the day or weeks, call 603-795-0603. Together, we’ll work through the pieces and come up with a way to make it work for you.
The Aging Resource Center is fabulous (even if you don’t consider yourself to be “aging”).
Dartmouth’s Aging Resource Center has all kinds of virtual programming, with intergenerational appeal: Singing, exercise, balance improvement, end-of-life care, Medicare enrollment basics, Zoom training, and much more. We often include a smattering of ARC offerings in the Lyme Events Calendar. This week, we’re encouraging you to take a look at the ARC website and check out the full, rich set of offerings.
Coming up this week:
Please be extra-careful about keeping yourself and others safe and healthy. Wear an appropriate mouth and nose covering when you are in public. Keep a safe distance. Stay home if you are sick at all. And please be kind, as you encourage others to practice safe behaviors. ❤️ ?.
Check out the Lyme Events Calendar online. Please let us know about other things you think we should share. Following are just a few highlights. See the end of this listing for our sources and more great resources to learn about all kinds of events.
