CCL Weekly Update – 10/17/2020
Signs of times to come ❄️ …
Waking to a snow-covered lawn and large, pretty flakes flying about, I was jarred into the reality of the colder – but also beautiful – times nature has in store for us. As I write this, it’s sunny again, and seasonable temperatures are back.
Mother nature’s little reminder is a good one: As the weather gets colder, it will be harder to gather outdoors. But let’s remember who we are! Pull out those warm coats, hats, heavy socks, scarves, and gloves. Fill your thermos with warm tea, cocoa, or other “winter warmer”. Pull out those extra wool blankets and afghans. Find your stadium seats or set up some weather-resistant chairs. Why not create cozy and safe spaces for gathering outside? With a little planning and creativity, we will be able to share and experience warmth, together, all winter. Even from the comfort of this gorgeous day, that sounds pretty fun.
Enjoy this fall weekend, and think happy, creative thoughts about warmth and togetherness as the weather turns toward winter.
With Love, Martha

Don’t forget:
You are the reason we’re here.
If you’d like information, help, a listening ear or, maybe, ways to make someone else feel really good, contact us at 603-795-0603 or help@CCLyme.org. Groceries or meals. Deliveries or errands. Help around home. A little help problem-solving. You name it.
If you are a school family with concerns for your own or fellow families, we’d like to help.
This quick form allows you to consider and share your situation, needs you may have, and ways you may help others. Complete it if you like, or just reach out by email or phone. If you could use help getting through the day or weeks, call 603-795-0603. Together, we’ll work through the pieces and come up with a way to make it work for you.
Please get your flu shot.
It is very important that everyone receive a flu shot this season. Highlighted in yellow in the “Don’t miss” section below are several flu vaccination clinics – at schools, community locations, and at Dartmouth-Hitchcock. Most are free. Some require proof of insurance. Check details for appointment requirements. See our post for more Flu Clinic information and options, including pharmacies.
A Covid Halloween.
Since it’s a little spookier than usual this October, our Halloween adventure in Lyme will be different. There won’t be the traditional Halloween events crowded around the Common. The Town Safety Committee, in collaboration with CommunityCare of Lyme, Lyme School PTO, and Recreation Commission, will put together individual bags for ALL students in the Lyme School System, whether your children are going to school or learning from home this year. Contact any one of us if you’d like to help! Creativity has always been the key to a special Halloween. Read more about Lyme’s guidance and some ideas for safe fun.
Love the Library!
After much planning and hard work, the Converse Free Library is moving carefully into Phase 3 of its reopening plan. There is a lot going on! Check out the Library website, see Director Judy Russell’s Lyme Listserv updates, and click here to subscribe to the Library’s newsletters.
Coming up this next week:
Wear an appropriate face covering when you are in public. Continue to keep a safe distance. Stay home if you are sick at all. And please be kind, as you encourage others to practice safe behaviors. ❤️?.
