Upper Valley Memory Café

The Memory Café is designed especially for people with Alzheimer’s disease or other cognitive disorders, their care partners, and other family or friends.

The goals of the Upper Valley Memory Café are to:

•Encourage peer interaction among persons with Alzheimer’s disease and their care partners

•Offer a positive and enjoyable group socialization experience

•Provide an opportunity to interact with Café staff and student volunteers in an informal and stress-free atmosphere

This is a chance for people to get together and to leave the labels at the door.  People share breakfast and activities as well as great conversations.

In this stress-free environment, students from Dartmouth College, Geisel Medical School, or area High Schools prepare a hearty breakfast, help people participate in the activities, and provide entertainment.  The focus is on being together, meeting new people, and enjoying music and fun.  It can be a way for caregivers to re-charge and feel less alone, while the person with dementia is in a safe place with other people around to engage with them.
