– Contradance –
A long-standing New England form of “making your own party!”
Live music, simple dance steps – first taught, and then called during the dance
Light physical activity and socializing with your friends and neighbors.
7:45 pm – Before the dance: walk through for new dancers. The first dances are the easiest, if you’re new, come at the beginning of the evening
8:00 pm – Contradance!
Beginners, singles, and “never-ever’s” always welcome
Dancers should wear comfortable clothing in layers for changing activity levels and bring:
– a clean pair of shoes for the dance floor
– a potluck finger-food snack for the break
– a water bottle
– a smile, and a friend…
Folks typically mix and match partners after each dance, so there’s plenty of variety
Dance styles will include contras, a circle mixer, possibly a square dance or two, and always two waltzes.
Check out the Tracy Hall website for more information on the schedule for the ongoing dances and featured musicians.
